{"id":111353,"date":"2025-05-18T09:34:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-18T09:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/111353\/"},"modified":"2025-05-18T09:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-18T09:34:09","slug":"jennifer-lawrence-robert-pattinson-on-parenthood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/111353\/","title":{"rendered":"Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson on Parenthood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe cast of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/lynne-ramsay\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lynne-ramsay_1\" data-tag=\"lynne-ramsay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lynne Ramsay<\/a>\u2018s Die, My Love got vulnerable about how parenthood has changed their lives while speaking at the movie\u2019s Sunday press conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe talent came straight from the Palais premiere Saturday night \u2014\u00a0where they were recipients of a warm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/cannes-die-my-love-six-minute-standing-ovation-1236220067\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">six-minute standing ovation<\/a> \u2014 to The Hollywood Reporter-hosted afterparty at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/cannes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cannes_1\" data-tag=\"cannes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cannes<\/a> hotspot Salama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film, an adaptation of\u00a0Ariana Harwicz\u2019s 2017 novel of the same name \u2014\u00a0with the action relocated from France to Montana \u2014 was co-written and directed by Scotswoman Ramsay\u00a0and was co-produced by Lawrence\u00a0in her most ambitious performance in years. Through the two-hour film, Lawrence plays a new mother (Grace) who develops postpartum depression and begins going in and out of psychosis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/robert-pattinson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_robert-pattinson_1\" data-tag=\"robert-pattinson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Pattinson<\/a>\u00a0plays her husband, Jackson, Sissy Spacek\u00a0and Nick Nolte\u00a0play his parents, and Oscar nominee\u00a0Lakeith Stanfield\u00a0also stars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLawrence \u2014\u00a0mother to two children now \u2014\u00a0was visibly emotional talking about working with Ramsay on the subject matter. \u201cIt was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what [Grace] would do\u2026 Extreme anxiety and extreme depression is isolating. No matter where you are, you feel like an alien, and so it deeply moved me. I\u2019ve wanted to work with Lynne Ramsay since I saw Ratcatcher (1999) and I was like, \u2018There\u2019s no way.\u2019 But we took a chance, and we sent it to her. And I really, I cannot believe that I\u2019m here with you,\u201d said Lawrence as the two embraced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPattinson said about working with Ramsay: \u201cI didn\u2019t find anything particularly hard. This was someone I\u2019ve always wanted to work with, and you create an atmosphere on set where I don\u2019t need to really describe things as like, hard or easy. It\u2019s quite an unusual environment. But when you trust your director so much\u2026 you create an aura on set where you\u2019re being led in the direction. You don\u2019t really know exactly where it is, but to trust the director so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLawrence and Pattinson were asked about how having children (Pattinson shares a child with British star Suki Waterhouse) has changed their careers. \u201cHaving children changes everything,\u201d Lawrence said. \u201cIt changes your whole life, but it\u2019s brutal and incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t know that I could feel so much, and my job has a lot to do with emotion, and they\u2019ve opened up the world to me. It\u2019s almost like a blister or something, so sensitive. So they\u2019ve changed my life, obviously, for the best, and they\u2019ve changed me creatively,\u201d said Lawrence. She added, prompting laughter: \u201cI highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSaid Pattinson: \u201cI think in the most unexpected way, having a baby gives you the biggest trove of energy and inspiration afterwards.\u201d Lawrence cut in: \u201cYou get energy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPattinson continued: \u201cIt\u2019s impossible for a guy to answer correctly! I\u2019m just here to support\u2026 Ever since she was born, it\u2019s reinvigorated the way I approach work and, yeah, you\u2019re a completed person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRamsay said about finding a way \u201cin\u201d to Harwicz\u2019s novel: \u201cThe subject matter was about postpartum, but it also was intended to be stuck creatively in dreams and fantasies, sex and passion\u2026 So I thought, \u2018Maybe I can do this.\u2019 And then I was like, \u2018Well, I\u2019m going to try it.
