Fabio Balboni, former senior economist at HSBC and the UK Treasury, has joined Wellington Management as the team\u2019s new chief economist, according to a recent announcement on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n
In his new role, he will be responsible for macro strategy, focusing primarily on Europe, Scandinavia and Switzerland alongside the existing team.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Wellington said: \u201cFabio joins our Global Macro team as a macro strategist, bringing extensive experience in European macroeconomics, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and economic forecasting.<\/p>\n

Fabio previously spent 11 years as the senior European economist at HSBC Global Banking and Markets, monitoring economic and political developments across Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece, along with forecasting Eurozone Inflation.<\/p>\n
In 2010 \u2013 2014, he served as a senior economist at HM Treasury, providing advice to the UK Chancellor during the Eurozone crisis, as well as monitoring the UK\u2019s fiscal position, among other responsibilities. He has also held roles at the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme.<\/p>\n
