A man was sprayed with an “unknown liquid” in an attack in Bristol.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Church Road in Bishopsworth around 2.30pm.<\/p>\n

The substance “caused irritation” and the victim was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment.<\/p>\n

He did not suffer life-threatening or life-changing injuries and was discharged from hospital later the same day.<\/p>\n

A man in his 40s was arrested and has since been released on bail as enquiries continue.<\/p>\n

At the time of the attack, a witness said Queens Road and Church Road was “closed off by police”.<\/p>\n

A police cordon was in place outside the shops on Church Road but has since been removed.<\/p>\n

A statement from Avon and Somerset Police said: “Officers were alerted to a man having been assaulted in Church Road, Bishopsworth just before 2.30pm on Wednesday 22 July, by the ambulance service.<\/p>\n

\u201cA man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment after being sprayed with an unknown liquid, causing irritation. He was discharged later that day with no life-threatening or life-changing injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cA man in his 40s was arrested later that afternoon and has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of the police investigation, a cordon was in place outside the rank of shops on Church Road, but this has since been removed.<\/p>\n
