The post read: “The Harpurhey Neighbourhood Team has been made aware of a video circulating on social media showing a male in a park who was allegedly harming animals.<\/p>\n
“Following enquiries, officers have today arrested a male in connection with this matter. He is currently in police custody , where he will be questioned by officers as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
“We would like to thank members of the community and witnesses who have come forward with information and supported our investigation. Your assistance has been invaluable in helping us respond swiftly.<\/p>\n
“We would also like to reassure residents that there is no wider threat to the public in relation to this incident.<\/p>\n
As enquiries continue, we would ask the community to refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information online.<\/p>\n
“Speculation can negatively impact ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary concern within the community.<\/p>\n
