A man is being treated for stab wounds following a ‘serious’ incident in north Manchester this evening (July 27).<\/p>\n

Police have been at the scene on Spender Avenue in Cheetham Hill since around 6pm <\/a>following the incident. A section of the street has been cordoned off, with officers seen working inside a residential property.<\/p>\n

A man is understood to have been injured in the incident and is being treated in hospital for stab wounds.<\/p>\n

An air ambulance is understood to have landed on Bignor Street Park nearby. Eyewitnesses have also reported seeing detectives and dog handlers working at the scene.<\/p>\n

Nearby Thackeray Close was also taped off as officers made enquiries.<\/p>\n

In a late update on Monday night, Greater Manchester Police confirmed initial details of the incident and added that they do not believe there to be a ‘wider threat’ to the public.<\/p>\n

Detective Superintendent Sarah Harris, of Greater Manchester Police, said: \u201cWe are dealing with a serious incident on Spender Avenue in Cheetham Hill this evening that has resulted in a man being treated in hospital for stab wounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to reassure the community we don\u2019t believe there to be any wider threat as we work to understand the facts.<\/p>\n
