Substantial works to open up the city with new planters, benches and paving opened in April, and the council says it is looking forward to seeing The Fargate completed.<\/p>\n
Cllr Ben Miskell, chair of Sheffield City Council\u2019s Transport, Regeneration and Climate Committee, said: “We look forward to seeing The Fargate completed and open for business, adding yet another brilliant venue for the people of Sheffield to enjoy a drink and bite to eat.”<\/p>\n

Simon Webster, CEO and co-founder of Thornbridge & Co, said: “This project has been over two years in the making, and we\u2019re thrilled to be nearing the finish line. We can\u2019t wait to welcome the people of Sheffield and become a part of this dynamic and evolving city centre.”<\/p>\n
The council also said footfall in the city centre has improved this year. It said the city centre saw 3% more visitors between March 3 and April 6 this year compared to the same period last year, while there was a 14% rise in footfall on Fargate in the same period.<\/p>\n
Cllr Miskell added: “It\u2019s fantastic to see so many people are coming out to the city centre to enjoy this great run of weather we have recently had.<\/p>\n
“We hope people have been enjoying the many amazing options for things to do across the city centre. In particular, it\u2019s been great to see the number of people walking along Fargate increase as people came out to see the Fargate works completed.”<\/p>\n
