The \u201cHour to the Tower\u201d challenge has been set by West Edinburgh Running Club which will see runners complete as many laps as they can from the foot of the hill to the Corstorphine Tower. <\/a><\/p>\n

The race, which is the first of its kind, will take place on 6 September and is branded as a community celebration, personal test and an endurance test.<\/p>\n

Friends of Corstorphine Hill<\/a> will support the event, while both participants and supporters have the opportunity to climb the tower after the event and take in the views.<\/p>\n

Chair of the West Edinburgh Running Club, Alan Jeffery, believes that the run can appeal to all levels of runner. He said: \u201cWe are excited to bring something new and exciting to the running community in Edinburgh, and in such a beautiful setting. We are an inclusive club for all levels of runner \u2013 and our race is no different. <\/p>\n

\u201cRunners<\/a> are welcome to go all out and try and set a course record, or rest and refresh between laps before heading back up to the tower. Personal challenge or record-breaking attempt, it\u2019s up to you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Entries to the race can be made online <\/a>and will cost upwards of \u00a318.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from Friends of Corstorphine Hill added: \u201cWe are delighted to be working with the Hour of the Tower organisers and to open the wonderful and historic Corstorphine Hill Tower to race entrants and observers. The incredible view from the top of the tower will surely reinvigorate the runners after their efforts, and we would like to thank the organisers for supporting our charity and the work we do on Corstorphine Hill.\u201d<\/p>\n
