{"id":1120373,"date":"2026-07-30T15:56:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T15:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1120373\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T15:56:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T15:56:17","slug":"call-for-venues-for-doors-open-days-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1120373\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for venues for Doors Open Days 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"meta meta--date\">\n    <strong>Published:<\/strong><br \/>\n    30th July 2026\n<\/p>\n<p>                                    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image image--feature\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/News___WEB.jpg\" alt=\"Black and white image showing word 'news' formed in small letter blocks against the background of a stack of folded newspapers\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"summary\">Scottish Borders venues are being urged to showcase what the region has to offer at the Doors Open Days Festival 2026, taking place over 5-6 September.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year\u2019s festival is \u2018Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine\u2019 and venues, companies, building managers and local groups across the region are invited to get involved by hosting an event.<\/p>\n<p>Theme<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme explores the need to protect, celebrate, and adapt our shared heritage in an era of environmental, social, and economic change.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event, which is organised by the Scottish Civic Trust, is Scotland\u2019s largest festival that provides access to some of the most interesting and historically significant buildings in the area whilst celebrating places and stories.<\/p>\n<p>All events are free and take place in person and online.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Simon Mountford, Executive Member for Planning and Community Assets<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to welcome the Doors Open Days Festival back for another year. The festival provides a unique opportunity for venues and organisations across the region to engage with new audiences and showcase everything they have to offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s festival highlights the environmental, social, and economic challenges facing our communities, while celebrating how our region is responding and adapting to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage everyone with a story to share to consider hosting an event.
