\n Nature of work keeping boat in dry dock goes unexplained\u00a0\n <\/p>\n

The Steam Packet is being urged to be more \u2018transparent\u2019 and tell the Manx public what is wrong with the Manxman.<\/p>\n

The three-year-old boat – which cost taxpayers \u00a380 million<\/a> – has had its spell in dry dock extended after \u2018essential works\u2019 were identified.<\/p>\n

It won\u2019t return to service until the necessary repairs are carried out which the company says require \u2018additional time to complete\u2019.<\/p>\n

Despite being asked the Steam Packet hasn\u2019t confirmed the nature of the work needed or the reason for the issues. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Customers have also expressed frustration at the unreliability of the service and the impact it’s having on their plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rumour mill is in overdrive with allegations that the defects are significant and the timescale could run into months. Come on Steam Packet – it is time to respond.\u201d – Manx Radio listener\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the same time there has been claims that passengers have been left sitting outside the Isle of Man Ferry Terminal<\/a> in Liverpool due to a lack of space.<\/p>\n

The Ben-my-Chree and the MV Arrow have now been drafted in to provide back-up.<\/p>\n
