Two people were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries described as serious\n<\/p>\n

It happened at around 11:05pm when it was reported a vehicle had collided with a number of pedestrians outside a licensed premises on Main Street.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Oonagh Ryan said: \u201cIt was reported that the vehicle involved, turned around and drove past the licensed premises again before making off from the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers, along with colleagues from NIAS attended the scene and two people were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries, which have been described as serious.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vehicle was located a short time later outside Walkers Lane, Millisle. One man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a number of driving offences, he is currently in police custody.”<\/p>\n

Main Street, Millisle was closed for part of Sunday but has since reopened.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Ryan added: \u201cOur enquiries are at an early stage and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference CW 1805 of 17\/05\/25.”<\/p>\n

North Down MP Alex Easton said he was \u201cdeeply shocked and appalled\u201d by the incident.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cMy thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during what must be an incredibly traumatic and distressing time. I want to pay tribute to the emergency services and the PSNI for their swift response and for apprehending a suspect so quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a shocking and reckless act that has caused real fear and upset within the local community. Let me be absolutely clear: whoever is responsible must face the full rigours of the law, and that process must be carried out in a fully open and transparent manner. The public rightly expects accountability and justice in the face of such serious incidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stand with the people of Millisle and urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant dashcam footage to come forward and assist the PSNI. It is vital that we support the police in their investigation to ensure justice is done \u2014 and seen to be done.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy office remains available to support any constituents affected by this dreadful incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alliance North Down MLA Connie Egan condemned the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward to the police. <\/p>\n

Ms Egan said: \u201cThis is incredibly concerning to hear about, and the lack of regard for the safety of others shown by whoever is responsible is as callous as it is shocking.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can only be grateful no one was killed by this kind of reckless behaviour, however my thoughts are with those who were injured in the attack, and I hope they have all the support they need to make a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that may help the police in their investigations to please reach out and get in touch with them without delay.\u201d<\/p>\n

DUP North Down MLA Stephen Dunne described it as a \u201cshocking incident\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was an appalling and distressing event for everyone involved, and my thoughts are very much with the injured individuals and their families. I want to again express my thanks to the emergency services for their swift response and ongoing efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would urge anyone with relevant information particularly dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward as soon as possible to the PSNI who are continuing their investigations.<\/p>\n
