Russian state TV aired a video of Vladimir Putin<\/a> warning Donald Trump<\/a> to stop trying to dictate the terms of a ceasefire with Ukraine<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Putin stressed that he plans to finish what he started three years ago and warned that Trump should not push him into a US blueprint for stopping the war.<\/p>\n

The Russian ruler told Kremlin-controlled state TV: ‘You know, the Americans \u2014 the American people and the American leadership, including the president \u2014 have their own national interests.<\/p>\n

‘We respect that.<\/p>\n

‘We proceed from the assumption that we will be treated the same way.’<\/p>\n

The message was released on the eve of a\u00a0scheduled Monday phone call between Trump and Putin.<\/p>\n

Putin’s words were recorded in late March but broadcast today<\/a> after Trump made clear he wants the Russian leader to concede a ceasefire in their upcoming telephone talk.<\/p>\n

‘We have enough strength and resources to bring what was started in 2022 to its logical conclusion with the result that Russia needs,’ Putin added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He failed to mention that his military operation has killed tens of thousands of Russian speaking Ukrainians since it started in February 2022.<\/p>\n

Discussing the phone call, Trump said:\u00a0‘I will be speaking, by telephone, to President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday at 10:00am.<\/p>\n

‘The subjects of the call will be – stopping the ‘bloodbath’ that is killing, on average, more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, and trade.’<\/p>\n

Trump said he would then speak to Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO leaders.<\/p>\n

‘Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should never have happened, will end.’<\/p>\n
