Derby County boss John Eustace has reportedly been knocked back in his efforts to reunite with former Birmingham City defender Cody Drameh,<\/a> after Championship rivals Hull City rejected the Rams’ loan offer for the right-back.<\/p>\n

Eustace<\/a> had Drameh at Blues<\/a> during the 2023\/24 season, when he joined the club on loan from Leeds United. He proved to be versatile, complementing both Ethan Laird<\/a> and Lee Buchanan on either side of defence and deputising at right-back and left-back whenever either were absent.<\/p>\n

Blues didn’t pursue a permanent move upon relegation, though Drameh’s contract with Leeds was up. Instead, he remained in the Championship and headed north to join Hull, who dramatically remained in the division at the expense of Luton Town on the final day of the recently ended season.<\/p>\n

Drameh, who signed a three-year deal at the MKM Stadium with the option of a fourth, played 29 games for the Tigers this past season, scoring once in a 3-1 win away at Queens Park Rangers – but it appears he is wanted back in the Midlands by one of his former managers.<\/p>\n

Reports have emerged suggesting<\/a> that Eustace and Derby – who like Hull diced with relegation for much of the season – had submitted a loan offer to take Drameh for the forthcoming 2025-26 season, but Hull have declined the idea. French sides Stade de Reims and Toulouse have also been linked.<\/p>\n

Drameh, 23, played 32 times for Blues in their relegation season, and nine of those appearances came under Eustace at the beginning of the campaign, with the club at that stage pushing for a play-off place. He featured under Wayne Rooney, Tony Mowbray and Gary Rowett<\/a>, although he didn’t feature under the latter again after early April.<\/p>\n
