Frankie Laine<\/a>\u2019s I Believe<\/a> set the benchmark back in 1953. Now, 26,755 days later, the Official Singles Chart finally has a new all-time champion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rein Me In first entered the chart in June 2025, beginning a remarkable journey that would take almost eight months to reach Number 1, finally conquering the summit on February 20 this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three weeks later, Harry Styles<\/a> briefly halted its reign as American Girls<\/a> swept to the top on March 13. Briefly being the operative word: just seven days later, Rein Me In was Number 1 once again.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since then, only Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>\u2019s drop dead<\/a> and Ariana Grande<\/a>\u2019s hate that i made you love me<\/a> have managed to wrestle the crown away. Each time Rein Me In fell, it came roaring back. Now, there is nobody left to overtake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, Sam and Olivia have torn through the history books one record at a time. A 16th week at Number 1 saw Rein Me In surpass Wet Wet Wet<\/a>\u2019s Love Is All Around<\/a> to become the longest-running chart-topper by a British act, before it moved beyond Bryan Adams<\/a>\u2019 16-week 1991 reign with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then came Frankie Laine. After drawing level with I Believe\u2019s seemingly untouchable 18-week run, Rein Me In has gone one better.\u00a0<\/p>\n

73\u00a0years after the record was set, it finally belongs to Sam Fender and Olivia Dean.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To mark the historic achievement, the Official Charts Company presented Sam with his very own Official Chart Record Breaker Award.\u00a0<\/p>\n
