Elijah Bieniemy\u2019s potential mental health evaluation has delayed two scheduled court appearances in connection with the shooting of his mother, Mia Bieniemy.<\/p>\n

Elijah, the son of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was arrested Monday<\/a> after the shooting took place at the Bieniemy family home in Virginia on Sunday night. <\/p>\n

Bieniemy, 27, was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.<\/p>\n

Bieniemy\u2019s motive has not been made clear, and the Loudoun County Sheriff\u2019s Office said there is an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Mia Bieniemy was released from the intensive care unit<\/a> after receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

Eric Bieniemy has remained away from the team as they opened training camp this week. <\/p>\n

Pass game coordinator Joe Bleymaier and offensive line coach Andy Heck have taken over most of Bieniemy\u2019s responsibilities in his absence, with head coach Andy Reid overseeing the offense as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cEric\u2019s a big part of this, and so I love having him here, but right now it\u2019s important that he takes care of business, and everybody knows that,\u201d Reid said. \u201cSo everybody\u2019s game is picked up, and they\u2019re working hard, and Eric will be back soon enough to jump in there and do his thing. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut he\u2019s got to take care of that first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reid, who declined to say when his offensive coordinator might be back with the team, added that Mia Bieniemy is<\/a> \u201cdoing better, and great from where she was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eric Bieniemy helped the Chiefs reach three Super Bowls with two titles, and then left to become Washington\u2019s offensive coordinator. <\/p>\n
