A motorist has captured dashcam footage showing fly-tipped rubbish scattered for more than 200 metres along a country lane.<\/p>\n
The video, recorded from a car on Mill Lane in Yalding, shows piles of waste including old mattresses, furniture, builders’ rubble and other bulky items dumped along the roadside.<\/p>\n
The driver, who did not want to be named, said he was stunned by the scale of the dumping.<\/p>\n
“It was probably over 200 metres,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It’s odd seeing such a lot of fly-tipping over the summer months.”<\/p>\n
Although he filmed the scene while driving, he said he also regularly cycles around Kent’s rural lanes and has noticed similar scenes elsewhere.<\/p>\n
“I cycle the lanes a lot and yesterday I saw a few tip sites up Common Road in Hadlow as well, including in gateways to farmers’ fields,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Smaller lanes are usually the worst and are often totally blocked.<\/p>\n
“Mostly it’s builders’ rubble, but I’ve seen complete kitchens and bathrooms that have been stripped out and dumped.<\/p>\n
“There has been roofing, ceiling panels, and one load looked as if someone had packed up their lounge after Christmas and dumped it all.<\/p>\n
“There was a Christmas tree, wrapping paper, couches, the lot.”<\/p>\n
Black bags, cardboard and other household waste were left on the verge during the fly-tipping incident on Mill Lane in Yalding.

After being alerted to the dumping, Maidstone Borough Council said it had informed its waste team, which had promised to clear the rubbish as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
