Good Morning Britain<\/a> is reportedly set to undergo a major overhaul in the show\u2019s history.<\/p>\n With the likes of Ed Balls<\/a>, Susanna Reid<\/a>, and Kate Garraway<\/a> fronting the ITV<\/a> breakfast show each weekday from 6am, it\u2019s become a key fixture in the daytime television schedule.<\/p>\n Known colloquially as GMB, it first aired in April 2014, following a similar format to GMTV, which was dissolved in 2010.<\/p>\n With Piers Morgan<\/a> previously a regular host<\/a> and with frequent fiery debates taking place between opinionated guests on air, GMB has never been a show to shy away from controversy<\/a> or making headlines<\/a>.<\/p>\n But now, there are said to be fears of \u2018mutiny\u2019 off-camera, as a huge shake-up could result in job losses.<\/p>\n A source explained to MailOnline<\/a> that bosses are keen to increase the programme\u2019s ratings, given that BBC Breakfast is currently beating GMB in the figures war by 400,000.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t So, with more than one million tuning in for the Beeb\u2019s alternative in comparison with GMB\u2019s 700k, it\u2019s believed execs want to give Good Morning Britain a revamp.<\/p>\n All changes are yet to be decided, but one option is moving to a new studio, while another is fiddling around with the format to make GMB more \u2018serious\u2019.<\/p>\n It\u2019s also been said that the breakfast programme will be merged with ITV\u2019s news operation, produced by ITN.<\/p>\n Union chiefs representing those working on GMB are thought to have voiced \u2018concern\u2019 via internal memos that the plans will put people\u2019s employment at risk.<\/p>\n However, insiders claim this isn\u2019t certain.<\/p>\n \u2018Obviously, any talk of major change starts panic\u2014lots of the staff were immediately worried about the security of their jobs,\u2019 a TV source began.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018This is about streamlining ITV\u2019s news output across the whole day, and having separate teams doubling up just doesn\u2019t make sense.<\/p>\n \u2018So it may well be that some correspondents end up appearing across the whole day\u2019s schedule, rather than being specifically attached to GMB or ITV News.\u2019<\/p>\n They added that the makeover could lead to \u2018a new set and a new feel, and a more continuous feel to ITV\u2019s news bulletins throughout the whole day as a result.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018But people are very much likely to lose their jobs, so there is a lot of upset, anger and, in some cases, mutiny.\u2019<\/p>\n Good Morning Britain covers a variety of segments, including world news, entertainment, weather, politics, sports, and competitions, as well as local news.<\/p>\n Through the years, it has also aired several spin-offs, including GMB Today, which was a temporary replacement for Lorraine during its 2017 summer break.<\/p>\n \t\t The following year, a special edition titled Good Evening Britain followed the England vs. Belgium World Cup football match and included live celebrity reactions.<\/p>\n Special episodes have also covered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s wedding, tributes to Sir Captain Tom Moore after his death, and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n Time slot-wise, GMB not only competes with BBC Breakfast but also Sky News Breakfast with Kay Burley<\/a> and GB News Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes<\/a>.<\/p>\n The show is currently hosted by Reid, Garraway,\u00a0Balls, Charlotte Hawkins,\u00a0Ranvir Singh,\u00a0Richard Madeley,\u00a0Adil Ray, and\u00a0Robert Rinder.<\/p>\n ITV has been contacted for comment.<\/strong><\/p>\n Got a story?<\/strong><\/p>\n If you\u2019ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk<\/a> entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff<\/a> page \u2013 we\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow![\"Editorial](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_251976284-76b4.jpg\")
