A police cordon was put in place at the side of Court Lane near Harcourt Road in Erdington<\/p>\n
West Midlands Police has issued an update following an incident which led to a large cordon surrounding a Birmingham<\/a> street and an armed police call-out.<\/p>\n The incident saw police cordon off a large area of Erdington<\/a> including Court Lane, Harcourt Road and Jerrys Lane, following an earlier police chase and arrests on Tuesday (May 13).<\/p>\n With the police cordon in place parents and carers with children at Oasis Academy Short Heath were told to collect their children from the Turfpits Lane side only.<\/p>\n Read more: Armed police surround Birmingham street following ‘suspicious vehicle’ chase<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n In addition Year 6 children had to be collected and were not allowed to walk home alone.<\/p>\n A force spokesman initially said the big police response followed a \u2018suspicious vehicle\u2019 sighting and a police chase.<\/p>\n The vehicle was pursued and stopped in Harcourt Road, and a footchase followed with two men in their 30s arrested.<\/p>\n A cordon was put in place stopping traffic heading along part of Court Lane, all of Harcourt Road and part of Jerrys Lane, with armed police spotted outside a property in Harcourt Road.<\/p>\n
