A “super ATM” is being trialled for Barclays, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, RBS customers, and those who bank with Ulster Bank. A string of banks are making a big change and making it easier for consumers and customers to deposit cash.<\/p>\n
Super ATMs could also help ensure small businesses up and down the country can accept cash payments from customers who rely on physical money to make purchases.<\/p>\n
They differ from regular cashpoints, which typically only allow deposits into accounts held with the bank operating the machine. Anyone with an account at a major UK bank can now withdraw cash at a super ATM, though.<\/p>\n
READ MORE UK faces 320-mile wall of rain with ‘half’ of England hit including 16 counties<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n And customers and bank users can check their balance and change their PIN, too, in a major boost as more and more high street bank branches shut up shop and shutter due to changing consumer habits and less footfall in UK towns and cities.<\/p>\n The first three super ATMs were set up last year in Atherstone, Warwickshire<\/a>; near Birmingham<\/a>, as well as two further editions in Heathfield, East Sussex; and Swanage, Dorset. Cash Access UK said the initiative was vital for those struggling to access basic banking services.<\/p>\n The organisation’s chief executive, Gareth Oakley, said: “It’s just as important that businesses who accept cash can bank it too.” Bank of Scotland is also included in the scheme.<\/p>\n
