Chris Waddle has expressed reservations over whether a former Tottenham player is the right man to take over from Ange Postecoglou.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many big-name managers have been linked with the Tottenham job<\/a> over the last couple of months, but some young English coaches have also been mooted as potential replacements for Postecoglou.<\/p>\n

One of these is a man who started his coaching career in the Spurs<\/a> academy and has just got his club promoted to the Premier League<\/a> for the second time in his short managerial career.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that Scott Parker has plenty of admirers at Tottenham<\/a> and the club\u2019s hierarchy have not ruled out an approach for their former midfielder.<\/p>\n

Waddle has now pointed to the fact that Parker<\/a> is unproven at the highest level, and more importantly, he opined that the 45-year-old\u2019s style of play will not be accepted by Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> fans unless he can win trophies.<\/p>\n

The Tottenham legend also suggested that it might not be a wise choice for the English coach to jump ship to N17 at this stage of his managerial career.<\/p>\n

When asked whether Parker can succeed at Spurs, Waddle told Football Insider<\/a>: \u201cThe Championship is the Championship, and let\u2019s be honest, the three who go up will likely be the three who go down. That\u2019s the gulf, the gap is that big. So, if they concede 80 goals after conceding 16 this season, Burnley, if he concedes 80 to 90 goals next season, will we be saying he was the right man?<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re only as good as your players, another question mark would be, Burnley play counter-attacking football. And they sit and park the bus. Would Tottenham fans enjoy that? No. So, is he a Tottenham-type manager? Listen, if he can win trophies, he\u2019s a Tottenham-type manager. If he\u2019s gonna be mid-table and it\u2019s boring, Tottenham fans will not have it.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, will Scott Parker turn that into an attacking team that is exciting to watch, what Tottenham fans will want to see? Hard job. Now, Scott Parker I\u2019m sure, living in London, would love to get an opportunity to manage a club like Tottenham, but will it be a good decision for him? I don\u2019t think it would.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Parker has said about his future<\/p>\n

The Burnley boss was asked a few weeks ago about his future, but he refused to rule out a summer move, although he also did not indicate that he is leaving.<\/p>\n

When asked directly if he sees himself at Turf Moor next season, Parker said that he is happy at Burnley and that his full focus is on ending the season strongly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He will not get an opportunity to have a crack at the Premier League with the Clartes next season, but perhaps an approach from Spurs or someone else may turn his head.<\/p>\n
