Leeds United<\/a> and Aston Villa are interested in signing Igor Paixao from Marseille, who are in the process of sourcing a replacement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

United\u2019s attention, after hopefully signing James Trafford very soon, is surely going to be on Daniel Farke\u2019s attacking options.<\/p>\n

Noah Okafor\u2019s return to pre-season is an ideal boost to our options in the remaining three friendlies. But, there ought to be some attention paid to adding quality alongside him out wide.<\/p>\n

Leeds United and Aston Villa interested in signing Igor Paixao from Marseille<\/p>\n

With Julian Brandt confirmed as joining Ajax, Leeds have turned our attention to other targets. Included on the shortlist is Marseille winger Igor Paixao<\/a>. <\/p>\n

However, United aren\u2019t the only Premier League club potentially sensing an opportunity in the south of France. Aston Villa are also claimed to have lodged an enquiry<\/a> at the beginning of August.<\/p>\n

Despite Paixao only joining Marseille 12 months ago, financial issues at the Stade Velodrome mean he could be sold. <\/p>\n

Marseille need to trim their wage bill quite drastically. And, the high-earning Brazilian could be one of those that has to make way.<\/p>\n

Importantly for OM, they look like they need to sell before they can buy. So, they\u2019ll have players lined up and ready to join in the event of exits being secured.<\/p>\n

As Paixao\u2019s wife posted a cryptic Instagram update<\/a> this week, it\u2019s claimed that OM have their winger signing raring to go.<\/p>\n

Journalist Nordine Ali Said<\/a> is now reporting that Egypt star Haissem Hassan has agreed terms to join Marseille. <\/p>\n

\u201cHaissem Hassan (Real Oviedo) has turned down offers from certain clubs and prioritises OM,\u201d he wrote on X. \u201cThe Egyptian international and the Marseille club have reached an agreement after a few weeks of discussions. In the event of player sales on the OM side, the deal would be unblocked.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A deal is currently blocked from being finalised due to OM\u2019s need to sell first, which he responds to a question in the same post saying that Paixao \u201cis done\u201d in that regard.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaixao is done, I think he\u2019ll leave. OM wants to sell everything that has market value, so the three central defenders, plus Paixao, Gouiri, Hojbjerg,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Of course, until Leeds or any other club enter formal discussions, Paixao is still a Marseille player and with the squad.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve played Qatari side Al-Shahaniya today in a friendly, in which Paixao opened the scoring with an impressive header.<\/p>\n

Igor Paixao would be huge Leeds United statement \u2013 But Aston Villa interest is worrying<\/p>\n

If Paixao is asked to decide between Leeds and Villa, I am quite confident he won\u2019t be coming to Elland Road.<\/p>\n

He turned us down last summer for Champions League football, and will probably do the same if Villa are serious with their interest.<\/p>\n

That being said, it would be a remarkable coup for Leeds to get this deal over the line. It does look like Marseille are in the process of getting rid of key players, including Paixao, so there could be a decision soon.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s Elland Road or Villa Park, a transfer might not be far away.<\/p>\n
