{"id":1133068,"date":"2026-08-06T03:20:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T03:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1133068\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T03:20:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T03:20:16","slug":"pfrda-extends-nps-same-day-investment-deadline-to-improve-subscriber-experience-enhance-operational-efficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1133068\/","title":{"rendered":"PFRDA extends NPS same-day investment deadline to improve subscriber experience, enhance operational efficiency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), as per an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/pfrda.org.in\/w\/same-day-investment-of-nps-contributions-received-by-trustee-bank-up-to-1-30-pm?p_l_back_url=%2Fregulatory-framework%2Fcirculars%2Factive-circulars&amp;p_l_back_url_title=Active\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"official notification\">official notification<\/a> released on 4 August, has extended the cut-off time for the receipt of National Pension System (NPS) contributions by the Trustee Bank for same-day investment from the earlier 11 am to 1:30 pm, on a given business settlement day.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator clearly explained the rationale behind this move, saying, &#8220;The <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/nps-returns-2026-tata-tops-1-year-equity-performance-icici-leads-over-5-years-check-full-rankings-11785914096936.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"National Pension System (NPS)\">National Pension System (NPS)<\/a> has been designed as an efficient, transparent and technology-driven retirement savings framework.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It added that the change is part of <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/nps-rule-change-pension-funds-liable-for-third-party-lapses-under-new-pfrda-rules-11784778092260.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"PFRDA&#039;s\">PFRDA&#8217;s <\/a>&#8220;continuous endeavour to enhance subscriber experience and improve operational efficiency&#8221; through new digital methods and process enhancements across the NPS ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Revised deadline to facilitate same-day investment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the newly revised framework, &#8220;The cut-off time for receipt of NPS contributions by the Trustee Bank for consideration for same-day investment has been extended to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day from the 11 AM cut-off earlier.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The regulator clarified that &#8220;NPS contributions received by the Trustee Bank up to 1:30 PM on a Business Settlement Day, which are subsequently matched and booked successfully, shall be considered for investment on the same day.&#8221; Any units for such contributions will also continue to be allocated based primarily on the application closing date and the <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/what-is-nav-in-mutual-funds-and-why-does-it-matter-11739875834659.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Net Asset Value (NAV)\">Net Asset Value (NAV)<\/a> on the day.<\/p>\n<p>The extended cut-off will apply to all categories of NPS contributions received through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Government Nodal Offices<\/li>\n<li>Points of Presence (PoPs)<\/li>\n<li>eNPS and D-Remit<\/li>\n<li>BBPS and UPI<\/li>\n<li>STAR NPS and Tatkal NPS<\/li>\n<li>Other operational contribution channels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New timeline applicable across all major NPS contribution channels<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In light of these developments, PFRDA has advised subscribers and associated intermediaries to initiate fund transfers well in advance to ensure contributions reach the respective Trustee Bank by 1:30 pm. The notification says, &#8220;This would enable eligible contributions to be considered for same-day investment and thereby facilitating timely <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/industry\/banksponsored-pension-funds-to-be-a-game-changer-for-nps-says-pfrda-chief-11774530208326.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"investment\">investment <\/a>and ensuring that the benefit of the extended cut-off is passed on to the subscribers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The regulator has also instructed all associated intermediaries and stakeholders to align their operational and technological processes with the revised deadline to ensure no glitches and a seamless implementation of the same-day investment framework.<\/p>\n<p>This notification has been issued under Section 14 of the PFRDA Act, 2013.
