Manchester United could consider a move for Antonee Robinson if they are unsuccessful in their bid to sign Lewis Hall, talkSPORT understands.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils<\/a> are keen to strengthen at left-back this summer, with Newcastle defender Hall their no.1 target.<\/p>\n

Michael Carrick<\/a> is short of options on the left side of defence, with Luke Shaw<\/a> their only senior player that is a specialist in the role.<\/p>\n

And with Champions League football returning to Old Trafford this season, United will need a bigger squad to rotate, making this position a priority area.<\/p>\n

Top of their wishlist has been Hall, who has earned a strong reputation at Newcastle since joining the club in 2024.<\/p>\n

talkSPORT has long reported United’s interest<\/a> in the England international, who was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But with Newcastle suffering a stream of high-profile exits this summer, they could decide to put their foot down with Hall.<\/p>\n

As well as the departure of long-term boss<\/a> Eddie Howe,\u00a0Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have left<\/a> for Barcelona and Tottenham respectively for a combined \u00a3170million, while captain Bruno Guimaraes is on the brink of joining Arsenal in a \u00a375m deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hall obstacles outlined<\/p>\n

While United remain keen on Hall, talkSPORT’s Chief Football Correspondent Alex Crook has revealed they could turn their attention to Fulham<\/a> left-back Robinson if they are unable to land their No.1 target.<\/p>\n

Robinson has been a mainstay for the Cottagers since their promotion to the Premier League<\/a> in 2022, and impressed for the USA at this summer’s World Cup, starting four of their five games.<\/p>\n

Outlining the Red Devil’s stance, Crook told talkSPORT: \u201cUnited’s interest remains. <\/p>\n

“We’re told they’re willing to pay up to \u00a360million to prise Hall away from the North East.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut having already made \u00a370million for Gordon, \u00a3100million for Tonali and now \u00a375million for Guimaraes, there’s no real financial pressure on Newcastle.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you wonder if the hierarchy there might see this Lewis Hall<\/a> situation as a chance to make a statement – ‘The shop window is closed, we’re not selling any more of our star players’.”<\/p>\n

The American dream?<\/p>\n

With Hall looking an increasingly difficult transfer for United to pull off, Crook was quick to highlight Robinson as a potential alternative.<\/p>\n

Known for his pace in defence and attack, the 28-year-old has been a dependable presence at Fulham since joining from Wigan in 2020.<\/p>\n

After helping the Whites to Premier League promotion in 2022, he has gone on to make 158 top-flight appearances, scoring once and providing 17 assists in the competition.<\/p>\n

Crook continued: \u201cKeep an eye on Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, the USA international.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Their experienced Premier League campaigner would probably come a lot cheaper than Lewis Hall. He’s someone I’m told is on Manchester United’s radar as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outlining the challenges behind signing Hall, he added: “Certainly I think it’s going to be a difficult deal for Manchester United to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the Red Devils have by way of alternatives – Harry Amass has had a pretty decent pre-season, but the vibe coming out of Old Trafford is still that he will be allowed to leave on loan, leaving Luke Shaw really as the only first choice left back.<\/p>\n
