Michael Owen thinks Liverpool<\/a> should walk away from signing Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola this summer.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/strong> <\/a>have turned to Barcola to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah after missing out on Yan Diomande and Michael Olise.<\/p>\n

It has been widely reported that they have Barcola<\/strong> <\/a>on board for this transfer, with it noted that he has indicated to PSG that he does not want to extend his contract beyond 2028.<\/p>\n

However, there are still issues for Liverpool to overcome, mainly that the French giants reportedly want around \u00a3145m for the winger this summer.<\/p>\n

Liverpool are hoping to meet in the middle and have indicated that they would pay around \u00a3100m, but Owen thinks they should walk away if Barcola\u2019s valuation remains at an \u201cextortionate\u201d \u00a3145m.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat sounds extortionate, doesn\u2019t it? For someone that\u2019s not proven in the Premier League,\u201d Owen told the Liverpool Echo about PSG demanding \u00a3145m for Barcola.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously played at the highest level, but, yeah, at some point you\u2019ve got to say no, haven\u2019t you? If it gets to \u00a3145m, I mean, wow, that\u2019s eye-watering.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I went on record a couple of months ago saying if I was Liverpool, I\u2019d go and try to get Jared Bowen from West Ham to replace Salah. I thought that made a lot of sense.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, obviously, that doesn\u2019t look possible anymore, so they\u2019re going to have to.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the problem is everybody knows you\u2019re desperate for a top-class player, so you\u2019re going to have to pay through the nose. That might be just what you have to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it sounds extortionate, doesn\u2019t it? \u00a3145 million, that\u2019s the number that you\u2019re saying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Owen reveals another issue for Liverpool<\/p>\n

Owen thinks another problem for Liverpool is that there are not many top-class wingers around at the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, it used to be Salah, and Mane and Diaz,\u201d Owen added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many great wide players [at Liverpool] over the years. And it feels like there\u2019s a dearth of them, of course, now at Liverpool.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey probably need two. They certainly need one.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, yeah, I mean, they do probably need to invest heavily in that type of position. And he [Barcola] seems to be one that\u2019s available, that\u2019s got the quality. And it sounds like there\u2019s no smoke without fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounds like they\u2019d be interested, but a lot will depend on the price, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n
