The press conference for Akshay Kumar\u2019s upcoming film Kesari 2 witnessed quite a strong patriotic rhythm. While the film\u2019s producer, Karan Johar, strongly spoke about the film\u2019s premise, Akshay Kumar also opened up about his own connection to the event and how his family passed on the story from generation to generation.<\/p>\n
He shared, \u201cMy grandfather witnessed the entire Jallianwala Bagh incident. He had told stories to my father about this, and my father told me. I have known a lot about the massacre since I was a child, so the film is very special to me. The event has been etched in my mind always.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Karan Tyagi told me the story, I immediately decided to be a part of it. I thank Karan Johar<\/a> for giving me a chance to be a part of this film,\u201d he said,\u00a0referring to how C. Sankaran Nair\u2019s story is not well known. \u201cThe most surprising thing was history doesn\u2019t tell us what we actually need to know,\u201d he further added.<\/p>\n

Akshay Kumar<\/a> also said, \u201cI want the British government and King Charles to watch this film and realise their mistake; other things will automatically flow. The apology is bound to happen.\u201d Talking about the film receiving an A certificate from the CBFC, Akshay said, \u201cI presume there must be a few things they think must be right.\u201d<\/p>\n
Karan Johar<\/a> also added, \u201cWe absolutely respect their decision; they must have seen the reason. We accept the certification. There were no cuts in the film.\u201d Akshay plays C. Sankaran Nair in the film, who sued the British Empire for carrying out the genocide in Amritsar in which at least 1,650 people were killed.<\/p>\n
Kesari 2 also stars Ananya Panday and R Madhavan<\/a> in important roles. The film releases in theatres on 18th April.<\/p>\n
