{"id":1134933,"date":"2026-08-07T01:42:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T01:42:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1134933\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T01:42:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T01:42:18","slug":"disruption-warning-as-busy-glasgow-railway-line-to-close-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1134933\/","title":{"rendered":"Disruption warning as busy Glasgow railway line to close this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Passengers have been urged to check their journey before they travel.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Passengers face disruption\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/0_JS372531713-4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Passengers face disruption\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Passengers face disruption(Image: Jane Barlow\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Glasgow <a aria-label=\"railLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowlive.co.uk\/all-about\/traffic-and-travel\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">rail<\/a> users have been warned of disruption this weekend due to track works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, works will be taking place between Cathcart and Maxwell Park, closing all lines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">According to <a aria-label=\"ScotrailLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowlive.co.uk\/all-about\/scotrail\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Scotrail<\/a>, no trains will run between Glasgow Central Station and Newton, Neilston, and the Cathcart Circle, bringing disruption to the city&#8217;s <a aria-label=\"southsideLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowlive.co.uk\/all-about\/southside\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">southside<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Passengers can use alternative train services via:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Barrhead<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Crossmyloof, Pollokshaws West, Giffnock, Clarkston<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Newton, Cambuslang, Rutherglen for journeys via Glasgow Central Low Level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Passengers with valid rail tickets can also use the McGill\u2019s 3 bus route at no extra cost, which operates:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Neilston to Glasgow via Barrhead, Pollokshaws and Shawlands on Saturdays<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Barrhead to Glasgow via Pollokshaws and Shawlands on Sundays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meanwhile, on Sunday, August 9, there will be disruption on the Balloch to Motherwell, via Carmyle line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Trains will run between Balloch and Rutherglen only.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Buses will replace trains between Dalmarnock and Motherwell via Carmyle and Whifflet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Scotrail has urged passengers to check their journey in advance online <a aria-label=\"hereLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/journey-planner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Passengers have been urged to check their journey before they travel.
