Manchester City will reject FC Barcelona’s first offer for Rodri<\/a> after the player agreed personal terms with the Catalans according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a> and various other outlets. <\/p>\n SPORT reported<\/a> that the initial proposal is \u20ac45 million in fixed money plus a further \u20ac15 million in add-ons, which SER also explained.<\/p>\n Later on Friday morning, Romano provided an update<\/a> saying that Bar\u00e7a is now in \u201cofficial club to club talks” with City and is \u201cvery confident\u201d of getting a deal done. <\/p>\n \n\u201cInitial indications from Bar\u00e7a [is that it is] open to pay fee slightly over \u20ac45 million, Man City in direct talks indicating higher price,\u201d the Italian added.<\/p>\n Yet the Catalan newspaper reported that the Mancunians will reject this proposal. City has firmly set its asking price at \u20ac65 million and Bar\u00e7a has been warned of this by the player\u2019s entourage.<\/p>\n The club is working on a strategy to convince the Premier League giant of how it is best to reach an agreement as soon as possible. <\/p>\n Bar\u00e7a has set a limit of paying \u20ac50 million for Rodri and could go up to \u20ac60 million by adding variables. It\u2019s a price that Sporting Director Deco and Co. believe to be fair for a 30-year-old who has just 11 months remaining on his contract, and City deserves credit for having never stood in the way of a player\u2019s wishes to move on – something that dates back to the Pep Guardiola era.<\/p>\n FC Barcelona has to tread carefully<\/p>\n One thing that made talks between Real Madrid and City break down<\/a> is the fact that the two parties couldn\u2019t see eye to eye on a transfer fee, however. <\/p>\n Last weekend, this was reported as Madrid having offered \u20ac50 million while City held out for \u20ac75 million.<\/p>\n This now doesn\u2019t appear to have been entirely accurate, as it has since emerged that the offer was a mere \u20ac40 million as explained by SPORT. <\/p>\n As a consequence, Rodri and his camp then thought Madrid wasn\u2019t that interested in him after all.
