Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, has hailed his man\u2019s \u2018incredible character\u2019 a year on from that dramatic arrest at the PGA Championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scheffler went from jail misery to Quail glory in the matter of just 12 months on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Scheffler was arrested in dramatic fashion before the PGA Championship second round last year<\/p>\n

The two-time Masters champion got his hands on the 2025 PGA Championship title<\/a> following his stunning display at Quail Hollow.<\/p>\n

His supreme round of 65 on Saturday put him in a commanding position and despite some ups and downs, he got the job down on Sunday to claim the third major of his career.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s in stark contrast to last year\u2019s event when Scheffler found himself hand-cuffed, bundled into a police car and placed in a jail cell.<\/p>\n

Following a tragic and fatal car crash outside Valhalla Golf Club, Scheffler become embroiled in an ugly incident with Kentucky authorities.<\/p>\n

Just before he was scheduled to tee off for Friday\u2019s second round, the argument saw Scheffler taken downtown and put in orange prisoner overalls with the now-iconic images quickly circulating around the world.<\/p>\n

He was quickly released and all charges were soon dropped but the incident was shocking for all involved.<\/p>\n

Scott, who has been on Scheffler’s bag for all of his recent successes, reflected on it as his man got ready to finally banish all memories of the arrest and claim glory at the PGA Championship this year.<\/p>\n

During his now-traditional \u2018Sunday Sermon\u2019 before the final round at Quail Hollow, Scott said: \u201cLast year as Scottie was travelling to the golf course on Friday, he got arrested and a crazy story unfolded.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of my favourite quotes is from Mike Tyson and it goes like this – ‘Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth’.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is, once you get punched in the mouth, what are you going to do about it?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat Scottie did that day and what he\u2019s done going forward, was absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first thing he did, is he didn’t overreact, he didn’t get emotional, he just did whatever the officer asked him to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn’t name drop, he didn’t get angry, he just said \u2018I’ll do whatever you guys ask\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he got out of jail, he sought wise counsel, something many of us need to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened after that was just incredible. If you just act in good character, God will take care of the rest. Scottie showed incredible resilience and incredible faith in God.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking back on the story, you see the police officer had some bad character and you look at Scottie\u2019s character and it shined bright and that\u2019s because he made wise choices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can learn from this story. You are going to get punched in the mouth but take a moment, take a breath and think, ‘what is the wise decision here’.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll then have a better story to tell and can even have a laugh about it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Scheffler shot three bogeys on the front nine in his final round to give his rivals hope.<\/p>\n

But as the chasing pack faded, Scheffler stepped on the accelerator again to race to victory by five shots.<\/p>\n

And the stunning win has finally giving him the closure he deserves following that shocking incident at Valhalla a year ago.<\/p>\n
