On Saturday, Hilton\u2019s family said<\/a> the celebrity gossip blogger remained hospitalized after the incident last week, and his recovery would be a \u201clong process\u201d after losing blood and sustaining injuries.<\/p>\n In a previous statement<\/a> posted to Hilton\u2019s blog Thursday afternoon, signed by his team and family, said Hilton\u2019s children, niece and sister were home \u201cjust minutes before\u201d he harmed himself on a TikTok livestream, saying his family \u201cimmediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma\u201d once it became clear Hilton was \u201cexperiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself.\u201d<\/p>\n Hilton\u2019s family said their \u201chighest priority\u201d is helping his children \u201cbegin to heal from what they experienced,\u201d asking members of the media and paparazzi to leave the area surrounding Hilton\u2019s home. <\/p>\n An earlier statement<\/a> posted to Hilton\u2019s blog said Hilton is \u201cable to communicate, which has given our family hope,\u201d though this has been a \u201cdifficult\u201d time as \u201cvery little information has been made available to our family.\u201d<\/p>\n In another statement<\/a> posted to Hilton\u2019s blog Wednesday, his team and family confirmed he is \u201creceiving medical care\u201d and his \u201cfamily\u2019s focus right now is on his well-being,\u201d thanking fans for their support.<\/p>\n Hilton, a gossip blogger whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, was taken to a hospital late Tuesday, the Miami-Dade County Sheriff\u2019s Office confirmed to multiple<\/a> outlets<\/a>, after his disturbing livestream prompted police calls from multiple fans.<\/p>\n What We Know About Perez Hilton\u2019s Livestream<\/p>\n While on a TikTok livestream Tuesday, Hilton appeared to be covered in blood while he appeared to be self-harming, as fans urged him in the comments to stop. The sheriff\u2019s office told CNN authorities \u201cspoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside\u201d before de-escalating the situation, adding that authorities often respond to mental health crises by \u201ccreating time, distance, and opportunities for communication.\u201d NBC6<\/a>, a local outlet that covers south Florida, reported sheriff\u2019s office vehicles and a firetruck were spotted outside a home in Miami-Dade County\u2019s Westchester neighborhood, and that neighbors told the outlet the home was Hilton\u2019s.<\/p>\n surprising fact<\/p>\n A TikTok spokesperson told The Washington Post<\/a> a moderator error caused a delay in the removal of Hilton\u2019s livestream. TikTok\u2019s moderation system flagged the livestream within minutes, the spokesperson said, and they denied reports that claimed his stream went on for 30 minutes, saying it was about half that time. The spokesperson said TikTok banned Hilton\u2019s account.
