Land\u2019s End to John O\u2019Groats in under nine days.<\/a><\/p>\nHarry MacConnell covered 885 miles in eight days and 16 hours while raising money for Cancer Research UK.<\/p>\n
The law student, who is studying at the University of Strathclyde, arrived in John O\u2019Groats on August 8.<\/p>\n
Speaking about why he decided to take on the gruelling challenge, he said: \u201cMy dad\u2019s brother passed away from leukaemia in 2011, and his sister went through breast cancer at the end of last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it has surrounded our family, and I always wanted to do a big run that was connected to something that has supported us.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a way for us to give back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry was accompanied by his dad in a support van, alongside a friend who took photos throughout the journey.<\/p>\n
He also wanted to complete the run in time for his 25th birthday which was on August 9.<\/p>\n

Harry was met by familiar faces at different points along his route, including his girlfriend, who arrived at the finish line, and his colleagues and friends, who met up at his workplace in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI work in a bar part-time with uni, and there were about 60 or 70 people there. I was really overwhelmed,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll my co-workers, family and friends, and a huge group of customers were clapping on the street.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was those moments when I forgot all the pain.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end, my girlfriend drove up from Glasgow and was almost racing me to the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n
He completed the mammoth challenge in under nine days.<\/p>\n
Harry had lots of support from people on social media, as well as strangers who became friends and supported what he was doing.<\/p>\n
He also had the support of colleagues from the TV show DIY SOS, which he has worked on over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me and to Tartan Campers, who donated the support van,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The support vehicle was kindly donated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were really lovely about it and just gave it to us, which helped us out massively.\u201d<\/p>\n
