An international conference slated to take place in September in Udupi, Karnataka, aims to examine whether principles from Ayurveda can complement modern immunology in addressing these complex disorders.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth International Conference on Translational Ayurveda in Autoimmune Disorders, \u2018Kshamatvam 2026\u2019, will be held at the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre (SDMAHRC), Udupi,\u00a0from September 29 to October 1, 2026.\u00a0The event will begin with pre-conference workshops\u00a0on September 29, followed by two days of scientific deliberations.<\/p>\n<p><img src-template=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/l4a3e0\/article69556707.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/Lupus_06.jpg\" data-original=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/l4a3e0\/article69556707.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/Lupus_06.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-device-variant=\"SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE\" class=\"media-object lazy adaptive placeholder lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conference comes at a time when autoimmune disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and psoriasis, are being diagnosed with increasing frequency across the world. Although advances in immunology have led to improved therapies, many patients continue to require lifelong treatment, prompting interest in complementary approaches that focus on prevention, immune regulation, and quality of life,\u2019\u2019 Mamatha K.V., principal, SDMAHRC, said.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0meeting will focus on \u201ctranslational Ayurveda\u201d\u2014 an emerging field that seeks to examine traditional Ayurvedic concepts using contemporary scientific methods. Rather than positioning Ayurveda as an alternative to modern medicine, the emphasis is on generating evidence that can facilitate integrative healthcare.<\/p>\n<p><img src-template=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/se93c\/article71328670.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/IMG_02tv_Ayurveda_2_1_48DUC09L.jpg\" data-original=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/se93c\/article71328670.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/IMG_02tv_Ayurveda_2_1_48DUC09L.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-device-variant=\"SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE\" class=\"media-object lazy adaptive placeholder lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The scientific discussions will explore classical Ayurvedic concepts such as\u00a0vy\u0101dhik\u1e63amatva\u00a0(the body\u2019s resistance to disease),\u00a0ojas\u00a0(vital essence associated with vitality and immunity),\u00a0bala\u00a0(strength),\u00a0agni\u00a0(digestive and metabolic functions),\u00a0prak\u1e5bti\u00a0(constitutional type), and\u00a0ras\u0101yana\u00a0therapies, alongside current understanding of immune dysregulation and chronic inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>Experts from India and abroad are expected to deliberate on various topics, including immunity and autoimmunity, integrative medicine, panchakarma, medicinal plant research, herbo-mineral formulations, lifestyle interventions, and evidence-based Ayurvedic practice.
