Lezayre Nursing Home threw open its garden gates to the community on Saturday, 8 August, for a Summer Fayre that raised more than \u00a31,300 for the home\u2019s resident fund.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The free-entry event brought residents together with their relatives, friends, and neighbours from across Rock Ferry for an afternoon of good food, live entertainment, and old-fashioned fun in the sunshine.<\/p>\n

Visitors enjoyed a free BBQ, an ice cream van, and homemade lemonade, alongside a packed line-up of stalls including a cake stall, a toy stall, a jewellery stall and a resident craft stall showcasing work made by the people who call Lezayre home.<\/p>\n

There were raffles and a teddy tombola, face painting and a children\u2019s colouring competition, hook a duck, a bouncy castle, and games and prizes throughout the day. A live singer performed from 2:30pm, before a DJ kept the party going until 6pm.<\/p>\n

Taking pride of place was a brand-new \u201cSweet Cart\u201d \u2014 built from scratch by the home\u2019s maintenance man, Phil, especially for the occasion. The cart proved a firm favourite with residents and visitors of all ages and will now become a permanent fixture at future events.<\/p>\n

Every penny raised on the day will go back into the resident fund, which the home uses to pay for outings, activities and one-off treats chosen by the residents themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a wonderful day and it meant so much to see our residents out in the garden, surrounded by their families and by the local community. Everyone pulled together to make it happen \u2014 from our staff and activities team to Phil and his fantastic Sweet Cart. Raising over \u00a31,300 for our residents is the icing on the cake, and we can\u2019t wait to put it to good use.\u201d \u2014 Nicola Willett, Home Manager, Lezayre Nursing Home<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Summer Fayre was organised and staffed entirely by the Lezayre team, with support from residents, families and local well-wishers.<\/p>\n
