Mason Mount injury concerns have resurfaced ahead of Manchester United\u2019s friendly against Leeds after the midfielder missed training in Ireland. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Mount was forced off after only 19 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, and a fresh report now suggests Wednesday night\u2019s game at Croke Park is likely to come too soon.<\/p>\n

The midfielder suffered a knock to his foot during United\u2019s 1-1 draw with PSG in Gothenburg and was replaced by Tyler Fletcher.<\/p>\n

Michael Carrick initially eased fears over the problem. ReadManUtd reported on Sunday that Carrick described Mount\u2019s early withdrawal as precautionary<\/a>, with the midfielder later seen walking without obvious difficulty.<\/p>\n

There has now been a less encouraging development.<\/p>\n

The Guardian reports that Mount missed Manchester United training because of the foot knock<\/a> and is likely to miss Wednesday\u2019s pre-season meeting with Leeds. The report adds that his absence is still regarded as precautionary rather than evidence of a serious setback.<\/p>\n

United have little reason to take a risk with Mount at this stage of pre-season.<\/p>\n

Carrick\u2019s side still have another friendly against AC Milan on Saturday before beginning their Premier League campaign away to Hull City on 22 August. United\u2019s official Leeds preview<\/a> also lists Mount among the players who picked up knocks during the PSG game.<\/p>\n

Mount had enjoyed an encouraging summer before the setback and featured regularly during Carrick\u2019s preparations.<\/p>\n

His potential absence against Leeds would give another midfielder an opportunity, with Youri Tielemans pushing for his first United start after making his debut from the bench against PSG.<\/p>\n

For Mount, the priority is ensuring a minor foot problem does not become anything more significant.<\/p>\n

United appear to be taking exactly that approach.<\/p>\n
