Tollcross cocktail bar unveils \u00a3100,000 makeover as The King\u2019s Theatre reopens.<\/p>\n

The Blackbird<\/a>, on Leven Street in Tollcross, has been given a contemporary new look to coincide with the reopening of the nearby King\u2019s Theatre.<\/p>\n

The venue\u2019s makeover features plaster-pink, terracotta and blue-green interiors alongside new tiling, globe lighting and pop-art touches.<\/p>\n

Its garden terrace, described as a green urban oasis in the city centre, will also be a welcoming space for customers throughout the summer.<\/p>\n

The investment marks the first stage of a series of developments planned at the bar during 2026, with a second phase due to take place later this year.<\/p>\n

A new cocktail menu has also been introduced, including the Joggling Board, made with rum, orange liqueur, sweet Italian vermouth, grapefruit and turmeric.<\/p>\n

Other additions include the tequila-based Kingston Dove, a frozen house martini and a range of alcohol-free cocktails, beers and ciders.<\/p>\n

The bar\u2019s new all-day food menu features dishes including burrata with honeydew melon salsa and prosciutto crisps, pork belly with curried cauliflower, and fried chicken with peach hot sauce.<\/p>\n

Colin Church, managing director and co-owner of Edinburgh bar and events company Big Red Teapot, which operates The Blackbird, said: \u201cWe\u2019re so excited to be showcasing our bold new look in time for the Festival and to coincide with the grand reopening of the beautiful King\u2019s Theatre, located just opposite on Leven Street.<\/p>\n
