{"id":1146629,"date":"2026-08-13T17:58:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T17:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1146629\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T17:58:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T17:58:34","slug":"nccc-news-martindale-enjoying-clarity-as-quarter-final-awaits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1146629\/","title":{"rendered":"NCCC News : MARTINDALE ENJOYING CLARITY AS QUARTER-FINAL AWAITS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ben Martindale feels role clarity has been key in the Metro Bank One Day Cup so far, as he prepares for a quarter-final against Yorkshire at York (14 August, 11am start).<\/p>\n<p>Martindale is part of a 15-man squad for the knockout clash, with Olly Stone and Dillon Pennington both available following their stints in The Hundred, and Jack Haynes in contention following injury.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1786632828_mbodc-squad-asset-yorks.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Academy graduate has enjoyed an extended run as an opening batter in the competition, hitting his maiden senior century against Kent at Beckenham.<\/p>\n<p>Having forged an alliance at the top of the order with Freddie McCann, Martindale believes the bonds the pair have nurtured throughout their time in the Notts pathway are bearing fruit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s role clarity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got a really nice setup. I\u2019ve played with Fred quite a lot , so it\u2019s quite a nice touch to open the batting with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we have the stability and class in the middle order \u2013 so having familiarity with the guys coming in, and knowing how my game works with theirs, is really helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martindale\u2019s match-winning knock has been followed by crucial contributions with the bat from the likes of Haseeb Hameed, Kyle Verreynne and George Munsey in recent games \u2013 and Martindale feels anyone in the squad is capable of turning in a matchwinning performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is capable of winning a game for the team, so if one or two of the lads get that right we can get in a really good spot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re confident with what we can do with bat and ball.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re feeling good.
