Travellers have set up a new camp next to a play area at a Birmingham<\/a> park after ‘dirty nappies were dumped and beer cans thrown on top of hedges’ at a university site.<\/p>\n Up to 15 caravans and vehicles were seen at Selly Oak<\/a> Park, off Gibbins Road.<\/p>\n Residents said the convoy arrived last night, Sunday, May 18.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Birmingham bin strike pickets cripple collections as dustcarts stuck at depots<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n READ MORE: Scooter rider injured near Becketts Farm as police make arrest<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Travellers have popped up over various locations in the south of the city.<\/p>\n Earlier this month a large group of travellers have set up a camp on land owned by the University of Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n Caravans and other vehicles<\/a> parked up on Westhill Close, in Selly Oak<\/a>, in front of Grade II listed cottages designed by Bournville Trust architect William Alexander Harvey.<\/p>\n Get breaking news on<\/strong> BirminghamLive WhatsApp<\/strong> <\/a>, click the link to join<\/strong><\/p>\n One kind-hearted resident, who asked not to be named, told BirminghamLive: “When they were on the uni grounds I went and tidied up.<\/p>\n “I bagged up the mess and put it by the bin. This was spread across the site – some but not much were in bags.<\/p>\n “There were dirty nappies and beer cans thrown on top of hedges.”<\/p>\n A group also attempted to set up camp on land opposite the MG car site in Birmingham<\/a>. Residents described seeing “loads of police” on Lowhill Lane, in the Longbridge area, before police moved the group on.<\/p>\n Last month around 17 caravans and other motors were located at Parkdale Park, just off Longbridge Lane in West Heath<\/a>, near Longbridge.<\/p>\n Travellers have also been camped at Woodgate Valley Country Park.<\/p>\n While a dozen caravans and cars were seen on fields near the play area in Kings Heath<\/a> Park.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_travellers1JPG.jpg\")
