{"id":1147800,"date":"2026-08-14T08:59:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T08:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1147800\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T08:59:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T08:59:21","slug":"a-level-results-map-shows-stark-differences-across-each-of-greater-manchesters-10-boroughs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1147800\/","title":{"rendered":"A-level results map shows stark differences across each of Greater Manchester&#8217;s 10 boroughs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of thousands of pupils across the country found out their results on Thursday morning, including students across Greater Manchester<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"men\" class=\"PremiumArticleBadge_premium-badge-image__ceBDv \" data-testid=\"premium-byline-men\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/assets\/men\/images\/premium-byline-men.svg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>17:29, 13 Aug 2026Updated 17:29, 13 Aug 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Students opening test results\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/0_GettyImages-667609291.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Students across the region have found out their A-level results \" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Students across the region have found out their A-level results (Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A map has demonstrated the stark differences in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/level-results-day-2026-live-34448298\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">A Levels results across Greater Manchester<\/a> as thousands of students have been finding out how well they did in their exams today (August 13).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Hundreds of thousands of pupils across England, Wales and Northern Ireland have opened up their <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/a-level-results\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">results<\/a> on Thursday morning, including students across Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The best performing borough of Greater Manchester was <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/trafford\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Trafford<\/a> &#8211; with over 45% of students getting an A or A* in their A Levels, it has been revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"><a aria-label=\"Click hereLink opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=b8052254-66af-41f3-9dae-7bbb0e3391c6&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> to get the biggest stories straight to your inbox in our Daily Newsletter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On the other end of the spectrum, only 13.6% of students in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/salford\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Salford<\/a> received either an A or an A* in their A Levels this year, compared to a national average of 28%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Stockport<\/a> and Manchester were the only two other areas of Greater Manchester to outperform the national average, with 33.70% and 30.40% getting an A or above respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It comes as school and college leavers received their A Level and AS grades today, as well as results for vocational technical qualifications (VTQs) at Level 3. Students in England also received their results for T Levels \u2013 which were launched to provide high-quality technical alternatives to A-levels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The total number of A-level entries has topped 900,000 for the first time, with the population of 18-year-olds increasing this year. More than a quarter (28.5%) of UK entries were awarded an A or A* grade, up by 0.2% percentage points on last year, when 28.3% achieved the top grades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh is-paywalled\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Maths remained the most popular subject at A-level this year \u2013 the 13th year in a row it has topped the table. And boys have outperformed girls in terms of top grades again, after doing so for the first time in seven years last year.
