The pictureesque European Club, Wicklow, has been sold for a staggering \u00a330m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington have both won titles at the Irish venue. Tiger Woods has also played there.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pat Ruddy, a former golf writer and course architect, has owned the course since he designed it in 1993.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Ruddy is now selling it to former motor dealers Raymond and Nicky Conlan in a deal the Irish Independent reports will cost \u00a330m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The property listing read: \u201cPrivately owned, a purposeful decision was made to maintain a small membership, currently in the mid-80s, to give comfortable golf to the owners and members while affording the opportunity to accept visiting paying patrons to a level suited to financial planning.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t reach the \u20ac40m target,\u201d Ruddy told the Irish Independent.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all I can say. The guide price was \u20ac35m, and in excess, but the final price is a private thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have mixed feelings about letting go, but the sanity part of my brain says to keep going.
