{"id":114878,"date":"2025-05-19T17:24:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T17:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/114878\/"},"modified":"2025-05-19T17:24:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T17:24:13","slug":"dog-rescued-after-being-stranded-by-incoming-tide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/114878\/","title":{"rendered":"Dog rescued after being &#8216;stranded&#8217; by incoming tide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Worried members of the public stood on the tideline &#8220;offering treats, clapping and whistling&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>17:14, 19 May 2025Updated 17:19, 19 May 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Dog-rescue-1.jpg\" alt=\"Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team were called to reports of a stranded dog near Leasowe Lighthouse in Moreton today, Monday, May 19\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team were called to reports of a stranded dog near Leasowe Lighthouse in Moreton today, Monday, May 19(Image: Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Concerned beach-goers gathered at the shoreline of a Wirral beach this afternoon after a dog was left stranded by the incoming tide. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/wirral\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Wirral<\/a> Coastguard Rescue Team were called to reports of a stranded dog near Leasowe Lighthouse in Moreton today, Monday, May 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">When Coastguard Rescue Officers arrived, they found a frightened dog, Lola, stranded on a sandbank, unable to return due to the rising water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Lola had slipped her lead during a walk and dashed onto the beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Two Coastguard Officers launched a rescue sled, while RNLI <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/hoylake\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hoylake<\/a> Lifeboat Station Hovercraft was dispatched for safety cover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Encouraged by worried members of the public who were stood on the tideline &#8220;offering treats, clapping and whistling&#8221;, Lola, still spooked, eventually began swimming toward rescuers and was safely brought aboard the rescue sled. But entering the water to save a pet can put human lives at serious risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;The best action is to stay put, keep eyes on the dog, and call 999 asking for the Coastguard.
