Leeds United<\/a> sold Pascal Struijk to Brighton early in the summer window, and the Dutchman is looking forward to a fresh start.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So far, Leeds fans are understandably delighted with the transfer business being done by the 49ers. With three additions confirmed, the club have plugged the main obvious gaps in the starting lineup.<\/p>\n

Included in that is the revelation that is Tarik Muharemovic for \u00a334million<\/a>. The Bosnian arrived as a direct response to United losing Pascal Struijk to Brighton for \u00a318million<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This week, Struijk has spoken to Brighton\u2019s site<\/a> about his decision to make the move down to the south coast. He\u2019s spent his entire senior career up to now at Elland Road, but thought that it was the best time to move on, with a year left on his contract.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s impressed Struijk in particular about joining Fabian Hurzeler\u2019s side is the prospect of European football. The Seagulls qualified for the Conference League despite defeat to United on the penultimate game of the season, and Struijk is looking forward to that next step.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the club achieving Europe, this is a step I wanted to take to develop as a player and challenge myself with European experience to become a better player,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a big factor. As a kid, you always dream about playing in international competitions. When you join a new club there are different factors, but this was a really important one. It\u2019s a challenge I want to take on, and hopefully, we can be successful with it. Seeing the club achieve Europe was a big reason to join.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

You don\u2019t want to get too hasty off the back of pre-season performances.<\/p>\n

But, everything we\u2019ve seen from Muharemovic so far is so impressive. I\u2019m at the point where I\u2019m not really that bothered anymore about Struijk going.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a good move for him, and a shame we couldn\u2019t get more for him. Although, we\u2019ve laid out our ambition in replacing him and have made such a superb statement.<\/p>\n

If Muharemovic hits the ground running in the Premier League, the 49ers will have no qualms whatsoever about Struijk wanting to play for a club in Europe.<\/p>\n
