Thousands of Glasgow homes were left without power after a fire <\/a>at an electrical substation.<\/p>\n

The blaze at the Bellshill facility broke out on Saturday and led to power outages<\/a> affecting more than 60 Glasgow postcodes.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were called out at around 11am on Saturday, August 15, after reports of smoke coming from the substation on Clay Crescent.<\/p>\n

Two appliances attended and the fire was quickly extinguished.<\/p>\n

The fire service said no casualties had been reported and firefighters have since left the area.<\/p>\n

Scottish Power confirmed that the fire had led to 64 postcodes being affected by an outage, and said some people may still be affected.<\/p>\n

A Scottish Power spokesperson said: “We have repaired the problem with the electricity supply in your area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere may still be some tidying up to do, and any details have been passed to our Maintenance department, who will attend to it as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
