Actress Sarah Jessica Parker<\/a> revealed she\u2019s been doing an impressive amount lot of reading lately.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSex and the City\u201d star told Page Six<\/a> she currently reads up to two books a day, as Parker is one of the Booker Prize judges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s intense to be reading (that number of books), the volume is kind of hard to convey, what it\u2019s like to have as many books we are given the opportunity to read in a month\u2026it\u2019s quite something,\u201d she told the outlet May 15 while attending the PEN America Literary Gala.<\/p>\n

Parker Calls Booker Prize Judge Gig \u2018an Honor\u2019<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old added it was an \u201chonor\u201d and a \u201cprivilege\u201d to take on the judging role. She added how she wanted to take on the challenge last year but filming commitments made it difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t do it last year because I knew I was shooting and doing the series<\/a> [\u2018And Just Like That\u2026\u2019],\u201d Parker continued, \u201cand I knew this year I had a different kind of time available to me, to read morning till night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parker wanted to take on the challenge ever since she saw an Instagram video in December 2022, according to The New York Times<\/a>. The actress wrote, \u201cOh let me try!!!!\u201d in response to the judges discussing how they read close to 200 books in seven months.<\/p>\n

In addition to a successful acting career, Parker also launched SJP Lit imprint in 2022, per The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The imprint is a part of independent publisher Zando<\/a> and \u201cpublishes sweeping, expansive, thought-provoking, and discussion-driven stories that are inclusive of international and underrepresented voices.\u201d<\/p>\n

Books Have Been a Part of Parker\u2019s Life Since Childhood<\/p>\n

Parker\u2019s love of literature started from a young age. \u201cWe always had a ton of books around the house and we were regular visitors to the library,\u201d she told Page Six.<\/p>\n

The \u201cHocus Pocus\u201d actress<\/a> said her mother was the one who got her into books, according to the New York Times.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother is the reason that me and my siblings are all readers,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen I was little she would drive car pool, and she always had a book open on her lap underneath the steering wheel, and at the red light, she would look down and read and wait for the car behind her to honk to tell her to go again.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that was how I grew up,\u201d she added. \u201cAny opportunity to read, even if it\u2019s for two minutes, I\u2019ll take it.\u201d<\/p>\n
