New figures\u00a0reveal\u00a0Sheffield\u2019s\u00a0visitor economy\u00a0reached\u00a0record-breaking\u00a0heights in 2025,\u00a0with booming tourism numbers\u00a0generating over \u00a32 billion\u00a0for the city\u2019s\u00a0communities and industry.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Sheffield\u2019s independent\u00a0shopping scene continues to grow,\u00a0along with fresh developments in the Heart of the City project,\u00a0new visitors are flocking to\u00a0soak up the buzz.\u00a0In 2025,\u00a0the city welcomed over 18 million visitors\u00a0\u2013\u00a0up by\u00a07.3% from the previous year\u00a0\u2013\u00a0with\u00a0day visitors making up\u00a0the majority of\u00a0Sheffield\u2019s tourism.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0statistics, compiled using the Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Model (STEAM), show\u00a0the strength of Sheffield\u2019s cultural output, with the city\u00a0also\u00a0offering vital contributions\u00a0to the wider South Yorkshire picture. Spending patterns reveal that shopping\u00a0keeps its\u00a0spot as the top expenditure category, followed by food and drink, transport and accommodation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

With\u00a0local\u00a0tourism now supporting\u00a0over\u00a016,000 full-time equivalent jobs,\u00a0the steel city\u00a0remains\u00a0dedicated\u00a0to\u00a0creating\u00a0new opportunities\u00a0across an enormous range of\u00a0sectors and\u00a0industries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Councillor Ben Miskell, Chair of the Economic Development, Skills and Culture Committee at Sheffield City Council, said:\u00a0\u201cAs we look ahead, we\u2019re committed to building on this momentum, ensuring that tourism continues to benefit communities across the city, plays a central role in Sheffield\u2019s growth and provides opportunities for entry levels jobs that are so important for the young people of our city.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sheffield\u2019s cultural calendar continues to\u00a0rack up\u00a0new events and\u00a0social functions year on year.\u00a0\u00a0There\u2019s something for everyone, from\u00a0nationally renowned\u00a0festivals like\u00a0Tramlines,\u00a0Crossed Wires and DocFest to award-winning food,\u00a0calming green spaces and a vibrant nightlife scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2027, the city will also celebrate\u00a0the World Snooker Championship\u2019s 50th\u00a0anniversary\u00a0in its iconic home at the Crucible Theatre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
