Land)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A disused antiques warehouse would be demolished and replaced with 41 apartments under new plans recently submitted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Each week <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a> receives dozens of planning applications seeking permission for a whole range of developments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Over the past seven days, those applications also included a pub function room on Gloucester Road to be shut and converted into a flat and a new laser tag venue at vacant shops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Every week dozens are validated by the local authority and we have selected some of the more interesting proposals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">All planning applications submitted to the council have to be validated and are available for inspection by the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Anyone is also allowed to submit comments about the applications \u2014 whether in support or objection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh powers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, some will go before elected councillors who sit on planning committees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">No dates have been set for when the planning applications below will be determined.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They can be viewed by going to the <a rel=\"noopener\">planning portal<\/a> on Bristol City Council\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Here\u2019s this week\u2019s round-up of notable planning applications submitted to the council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Warehouse to become 41 homes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A former antiques warehouse in Eastville would be <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/pa.bristol.gov.uk\/online-applications\/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&amp;keyVal=SV9NTXDNJ6P00\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">bulldozed and replaced with buildings up to four storeys<\/a> with 41 apartments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The site, previously known as Ever Ready House in Narroways Road, off Glenfrome Road, was last used by Robert Mills Architectural Antiques &amp; Reclamation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A previous application for 40 homes was dismissed by planning inspectors on appeal in March 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In planning documents, the developers\u2019 agents said: \u201cThe proposal seeks to deliver a good range of quality house types and sizes, responsive to demonstrable local need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe new dwellinghouses are situated in an accessible and sustainable location and make efficient use of previously developed land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe proposed scheme improves the setting and visual amenity of Narroways Road through the removal of a large building in close proximity to the existing house and redevelopment to provide a more attractive development, softened by increased areas of green infrastructure and a more open outlook.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cLocal highway safety and residential amenity is also enhanced through the removal of a commercial use with potential to generate significant noise, disturbance, activity and vehicular movements on a narrow residential cul-de-sac.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe courtyard design will not only provide essential parking facilities but also offer residents a shared outdoor space, enhancing their quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">None of the flats would be affordable because of costs despite council policy saying 30 per cent of them should be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Pub function room to flat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A first-floor function room above a temporarily closed pub on Gloucester Road would be shut and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/pa.bristol.gov.uk\/online-applications\/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&amp;keyVal=SVXVX3DNJLM00\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">turned into a one-bedroom flat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Developers are asking for a change of use of the upstairs room at Gloucester Road Ale House and Kitchen in Bishopston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There is already an apartment on the second floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The loss of the pub\u2019s first-floor toilets would be replaced on the ground floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In planning documents, the agents said: \u201cThe proposal would result in a small loss of public house floorspace, but not to the extent where it would impact on the viability of the public house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe proposal would provide a high standard of accommodation and represent a valuable addition to the housing stock in a sustainable location, with excellent sustainable transport links.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Laser tag<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Four vacant shops would be <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/pa.bristol.gov.uk\/online-applications\/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&amp;keyVal=STZTHSDNIBG00\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">turned into a new laser tag experience<\/a> in the city centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A company called Laser Tag Leisure wants to move into the property on the corner of Fairfax Street and Nelson Street, where there used to be a barbers, hair salon and retail store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Offices to recording studio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Offices in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/clifton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Clifton<\/a> would be <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/pa.bristol.gov.uk\/online-applications\/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&amp;keyVal=SVZYWYDNJNM00\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">turned into a music recording studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Developers are asking the council for a lawful certificate under permitted development rights to change the use of Stute House in Sunderland Place, which would bypass the need for planning permission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The property, a former workshop and garage, was converted into offices 35 years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In planning documents, the agents said: \u201cThe applicant proposes to use the building for
