A TOURIST caught filming a small child told a court he meant no \u201charm\u201d.<\/p>\n

He then filmed Singh, 29, taking footage of the child<\/a> in Barshaw Park, Paisley<\/a>, and later shared the clip on social<\/a> media in a bid to identify him.<\/p>\n

It emerged Singh, from India<\/a>, was visiting his sister here \u2014 and she went to cops<\/a> after spotting the video online.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Karen Yule told the town\u2019s sheriff court: \u201cThe accused\u2019s sister advised police he had been making videos<\/a> to show family<\/a> back home<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“He did not know he\u2019d done anything wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops arrested Singh and found the video on his mobile<\/a> plus two others of swans and park scenes.<\/p>\n

He admitted filming the child on March 30. <\/p>\n

His lawyer Mark Johnson told the court: \u201cHe\u2019s here on holiday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“There was a certain level of naivety involved. <\/p>\n

“He did not see the harm in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill was undecided on whether Singh\u2019s actions were \u201cinnocent\u201d or \u201cnefarious\u201d, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s not unusual for people from certain cultures to take videos of swans and children<\/a> and not realise it is a criminal offence here.\u201d <\/p>\n

“She deferred sentence for reports.<\/p>\n

We told previously how Police Scotland issues a warning amid reports of men<\/a> filming kids in Scots playparks. <\/p>\n

The force said it was “aware” of mounting concerns being shared on\u00a0social media<\/a>\u00a0regarding filming in playparks.<\/p>\n
