There\u2019s a new member of the British royal family! Princess Eugenie<\/a> and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their baby girl, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, on Aug. 3, 2026. <\/p>\n

Although one part of her name, Elizabeth, was expected, the rest was not. And now, royal fans are claiming it\u2019s a tribute to Prince William<\/a> and Kate Middleton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How? Well, the new royal\u2019s first name is Adelaide, reportedly inspired by Maria Adelaide of Portugal and William IV\u2019s wife, Queen Adelaide. That seems pretty straightforward, but some are pointing out the subtle connection to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who used to reside at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.<\/p>\n

Many are even suggesting the name could hint<\/a> at where Eugenie and her family might live in London. They\u2019ve been staying at Kensington Palace while in London, but there\u2019s only three bedrooms, so not as comfortable for a family of five. Adelaide Cottage, which William and Kate already vacated, has four bedrooms.<\/p>\n

The baby\u2019s middle name, Elizabeth, is a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. It\u2019s a name shared by many family members, including both of Princess Beatrice\u2019s daughters. Eugenie and Brooksbank have yet to confirm the meaning behind their daughter\u2019s second middle name, Annina, but Eugenie does have a friend named Annina Pfuel.<\/p>\n

Eugenie introduced her daughter on Instagram and shared the name they\u2019d chosen. \u201c2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we\u2019ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home,\u201d she continued. \u201cAugie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.\u201d<\/p>\n

This all comes after reports that Kate Middleton<\/a>\u00a0had officially \u201csevered\u201d ties with\u00a0Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie<\/a> due to the scandal surrounding\u00a0former\u00a0Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Kate has effectively severed what little relationship she had with Beatrice and Eugenie,\u201d a royal source told\u00a0RadarOnline<\/a>. \u201cThere hasn\u2019t been some dramatic confrontation or explosive falling-out \u2013 it has been much quieter than that. The contact has simply disappeared. Kate understands that everything she and William do now is viewed through the prism of them being the future king and queen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeatrice and Eugenie have not been accused of wrongdoing, and nobody is suggesting otherwise, but the renewed scrutiny surrounding their parents has made an already complicated relationship even more difficult,\u201d the source also said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKate and Eugenie were never particularly close, so there wasn\u2019t an enormous friendship there to lose,\u201d the source continued. \u201cBut there was previously a family connection and a degree of warmth. That\u2019s largely gone.
