justify;\"><strong>The Welsh Government has launched a public consultation as part of a major revision of the National Development Framework \u2013 which sets out how places, communities, infrastructure and natural resources should be planned and managed through the planning system in Wales.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.wales\/national-development-framework\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">consultation, running from\u00a019\u00a0August to\u00a020\u00a0November 2026<\/a>, invites people and organisations across Wales to have their say on the Statement of Public Participation, the National Conversation Engagement Plan, and an accompanying Call for Evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si\u00e2n Gwenllian,\u00a0Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This marks the start of a national conversation about the long-term future of Wales, going beyond planning policy to explore the role that places, communities, infrastructure, the environment and culture should play in shaping\u00a0our\u00a0nation&#8217;s future to 2050.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is part of\u00a0this Government\u2019s\u00a0commitment to work with local authorities and regional partners to develop a new Framework that meets Wales&#8217;s needs, empowers local government, and reduces costs,\u00a0bureaucracy\u00a0and duplication.\u00a0I strongly encourage everyone with an interest in the future of their community, town,\u00a0city,\u00a0region\u00a0and\u00a0nation\u00a0to take part.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our aim is to move towards a community-centred approach to planning that gives communities a real say on how we secure the homes, workplaces and infrastructure we need, and the National Development Framework will play a key overarching role in how those decisions are made locally, regionally and nationally.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As part of the engagement programme, a series of\u00a0both in-person and remote\u00a0events will be held around Wales during September\u00a0and\u00a0October.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The national conversation will explore key themes including:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wales in 2050: what the nation should be known for and what future generations should inherit\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">homes and communities: the housing and community infrastructure Wales needs\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">economy and prosperity: where jobs and investment should be focused\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">climate\u202fand nature: recognising\u202fone connected emergency and acting in\u202fa\u202fcoordinated\u00a0way\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">movement and connectivity: the future of transport and digital connectivity\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">culture,\u00a0language\u00a0and nationhood: how the Welsh language and cultural identity should shape development\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">health and wellbeing: how planning can support healthier lives and reduce inequalities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The consultation\u00a0launches\u00a0just\u00a0as\u00a0the Welsh\u00a0Government\u00a0has announced\u00a0work\u00a0has begun on\u202fWales\u2019s\u202ffirst Climate and Nature Action Plan,\u202fwhich\u00a0will\u00a0bring\u00a0climate and nature into decision-making across government, helping deliver wider priorities for healthier communities, resilient places, cleaner air and water, green jobs, warmer homes, sustainable food and farming, and better places to live.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
