Sandra Bullock<\/a>\u00a0has spoken about her late partner, Bryan Randall<\/a>, for the first time, following his death at the age of 57 in August 2023.<\/p>\n The American actress, 62,\u00a0confirmed the tragic news\u00a0<\/a>with \u2018great sadness\u2019 in a statement at the time but has not spoken publicly about the loss in depth.<\/a><\/p>\n Bryan died three years after being diagnosed with ALS, a motor neuron disease that causes increased paralysis.<\/p>\n The couple, who had been together for eight years, did not reveal his illness as she has now revealed he had asked her \u2018not to share\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018I know why he asked me not to,\u2019 she said on the Smartless podcast<\/a> but admitted that had \u2018isolated her in the process\u2019.<\/p>\n Around half of ALS patients are given a three-year prognosis, although some live for far longer, but Sandra said she was \u2018grieving Bryan four years before he passed.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018There was something that had shifted\u2019 she said. \u2018My person left a lot earlier than the body left. I don\u2019t think I ever dealt with that until after he passed, because you\u2019re just on this treadmill.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018And plus the entire world was locked in with a pandemic. It was literally like the final diagnosis, even though he was ill for half of our relationship.\u2019<\/p>\n She explained that the diagnosis came at almost the same time as \u2018the cloak of the pandemic\u2019, which saw everyone shut inside to prevent Covid<\/a>\u2019s spread.<\/p>\n \u2018I have a child with severe asthma, I was panicking,\u2019 the Practical Magic star <\/a>recalled. \u2018I had two young kids, that were navigating it, especially a little girl who saw him as a father figure\u2026 <\/p>\n \u2018I wasn\u2019t allowed to tell anybody. My sister was the only one who knew for a while.\u00a0It\u2019s a huge\u00a0weight.\u2019<\/p>\n Eventually she did tell her close friend<\/a> Jennifer Aniston<\/a>, as well as Smartless host Jason Bateman\u2019s wife Amanda Anaka.<\/p>\n \t\t In January 2024, Sandra was seen scattering his ashes in the Bahamas to mark his final resting spot.<\/p>\n An insider said at the time that, after the couple first met in 2015, they exchanged their informal \u2018vows\u2019 there in 2017 and frequently took family holidays there.<\/p>\n Her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado had previously confirmed he was also scattered in Wyoming on the banks of Snake River, in a video on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n On the day that would have been his 58th birthday, she posted: \u2018Happy birthday, Bry. Sandy brought you to the river, just as she promised.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Shortly after her partner\u2019s death,\u00a0Sandra was reported to be \u2018grateful\u2019 for the support<\/a>\u00a0she had received and felt \u2018happy\u2019 that people had chosen to donate to ALS charities.<\/p>\n An insider told\u00a0People<\/a> at the time: \u2018It was very important to her that when she and his family made the initial statement of Bryan\u2019s passing, those who were on this journey with her and Bryan, from the beginning, were recognised.\u2019<\/p>\n The couple had met when Bryan, a photographer, oversaw a photoshoot for Sandra\u2019s son Louis, who she adopted in 2010.<\/p>\n They also shared Sandra\u2019s adopted daughter Laila, 12, and an adult daughter named Skylar from Bryan\u2019s previous relationship.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow Arrow![\"FILE](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SEI_166894035-38f2.jpg\")
