{"id":1158393,"date":"2026-08-20T00:20:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T00:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1158393\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T00:20:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T00:20:17","slug":"nicola-coughlan-on-smaller-bridgerton-season-5-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1158393\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicola Coughlan On Smaller &#8216;Bridgerton&#8217; Season 5 Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bridgerton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bridgerton\" data-tag=\"bridgerton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bridgerton<\/a> fans prepare for a new social season, one fan-favorite will be stepping back from the main ensemble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/nicola-coughlan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nicola-coughlan\" data-tag=\"nicola-coughlan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicola Coughlan<\/a>, who plays Penelope Bridgerton in the Netflix\/Shondaland series, emphasized that she\u2019ll \u201calways pop back to Bridgerton\u201d but will be in less episodes this season as she pulls double-duty on Season 6 of Hulu\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/only-murders-in-the-building\/\" id=\"auto-tag_only-murders-in-the-building\" data-tag=\"only-murders-in-the-building\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Only Murders in the Building<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI feel very lucky,\u201d she told <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1435148\/bridgerton-star-nicola-coughlan-details-reduced-season-5-role\">E! News<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s the best of both worlds, because I\u2019m currently filming on Only Murders, but I still get to pop back to Bridgerton now and then and see everybody, and it\u2019s just like coming home. You\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, hey guys, how you doing?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCoughlan noted that while she had an \u201cincredible experience\u201d leading Season 3 alongside Luke Newton\u2019s Colin Bridgerton, it was \u201cso nice and low pressure\u201d taking step back in Season 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s bittersweet. I feel like, God, I had such an epic run. I think that\u2019s part of the beauty of that world is it keeps reinventing itself. Every season being a new story\u2014it takes on a different guise,\u201d said Coughlan, adding, \u201cI\u2019ll always pop back to Bridgerton if they want me. If I can be set dressing, I\u2019ll be there. No problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn June, Coughlan was one of several <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/06\/only-murders-in-the-building-david-tennant-nicola-coughlan-1236955027\/\">local talents announced for Season 6<\/a> of Only Murders in the Building, which takes Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez to London, following the mysterious death of Tina Fey\u2019s Cinda Canning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOn Tuesday, Coughlan wrapped production on Only Murders. \u201cOh @onlymurdershulu how I\u2019ve loved being a part of you!
