<\/a><\/p>\nDuring Matt Forde\u2019s Political Party event,\u00a0the host noticed a hospital band on Lord Offord\u2019s wrist.<\/p>\n
The politician told him: \u201cI just had a procedure last Wednesday to remove my prostate. So I am now clear. It was last Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said he was \u201cfeeling pretty good\u201d after surgery, and added that \u201cfinal confirmation\u201d of his prostate cancer had come on May 7, which was \u201cthe weirdest thing\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThe thing about the prostate is it is out and gone, I can move on.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the point is it is pretty routine, I am 61 years old, about to become 62, it happens in a lot of men that age.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe good news is that medics are all over this, they know what they are doing, they know how to fix this, they can fix it fast and there is plenty of life after that.\u201d<\/p>\n
He urged men to \u201cjust get checked\u201d, saying: \u201cEvery male in the room knows that you get checked.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said having cancer diagnosed was \u201ca scary thing\u201d, but added: \u201cI\u2019ve got a couple of pals who have been through this, so it doesn\u2019t hold the same level of fear.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the benefit is people now talking about this, particularly men who didn\u2019t talk about this in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said prostate cancer is now a \u201cmore understood subject\u201d and there is also \u201cmore recovery potential\u201d.<\/p>\n
On politics, he spoke of his ambition for Reform to win a majority at Holyrood.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just so ambitious for Scotland, I think we are a unique nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe right now we are not living up to our potential, or our birth right, and I want to change that.<\/p>\n

Lord Offord said Nigel Farage needs to lead Reform to election victory at Westminster in 2029 (Joe Giddens\/PA) <\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to win a majority. We have got a timeline. We\u2019ve come in, we\u2019ve got 17% of the vote and 385,000 voters and 17 MSPs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe then go to May next year, May 2027, that is the council election. You can\u2019t change the country from Holyrood, you have got to do it through the town halls.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to get a good result in the local elections in May 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n
After that, he said Reform needs \u201cNigel (Farage) to win in 2029 in Westminster\u201d, saying this is important because Westminster still controls key issues such as energy policy, defence and immigration.<\/p>\n
But he said Holyrood has enough powers to \u201crun our own affairs and make Scotland unquestionably the most successful part of the UK\u201d.<\/p>\n
Setting out how he wants to take Reform from having 17 MSPs to a majority of 65 or more, he explained: \u201cThere\u2019s two million Scots that didn\u2019t vote, that is what we\u2019re going for.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we can get a million of those Scots to vote, if we can put something in front of them which is interesting, which inspires them.<\/p>\n
