LONDON<\/strong> \u2013 Six years after stepping back from royal life and relocating to Los Angeles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are reportedly moving back to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

UK sources confirmed reports from multiple publications that the couple plan to relocate to Britain within days. Harry and Meghan\u2019s two young children will be enrolled in British schools, sources say.<\/p>\n

A move six years in the making<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s departure from the UK in 2020 triggered a media firestorm. Tabloids dubbed the relocation \u201cMegxit.\u201d Newspapers and magazines tracked the couple\u2019s every move as they worked to build new business ventures in the United States \u2014 including a $20 million Spotify deal and a $100 million Netflix deal that included a documentary about their lives.<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s memoir, Spare, added fuel to the fire, revealing fistfights with his older brother, Prince William, and rifts with other members of the royal family, including his father, King Charles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe feeling is this is our decision,\u201d Harry said. \u201cTherefore the consequence was on us.\u201d<\/p>\n

A private meeting with King Charles<\/p>\n

Earlier this summer, Harry and Meghan flew to Britain and met privately with King Charles, who is battling cancer. UK sources say the king was first made aware of the family\u2019s relocation plans on Sunday and that he welcomes the opportunity to spend more time with them.<\/p>\n

Sources also say King Charles has made clear that Harry and Meghan\u2019s status will not change \u2014 they will remain private citizens.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s ahead for the Sussexes<\/p>\n

No word yet on where exactly the family will live in the UK. According to CBS News partner BBC, the former working royals plan to keep their California home and establish a non-royal home base in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
